Tom Boonen tests rally car in Arendonk: from cobblestones to gravel

Tom Boonen tests new rally car at Glossocircuit in Arendonk: “It is not the first time Tom has come to train with us”

Former cycling icon Tom Boonen continues to reinvent himself. This time, he permanently traded the cobblestones for the gravel of the Glossocircuit in Arendonk, where he put a new rally car through its paces.

An ideal playground for rally tests

The Glossocircuit is known as a versatile course featuring both fast and technical corners, and a mix of paved and unpaved sections. Exactly what a rally driver needs to simulate different conditions.

For Boonen, it was therefore the perfect place to get to know his new car better and fine-tune it. He rented the circuit for half a day to test and experiment in peace.

“Jovial and grateful”

What stood out during the test session was not only his driving style, but also his attitude off the car. According to those present, Boonen was particularly approachable, friendly, and grateful to the people around him. That makes him not only a strong sportsman, but also someone who continues to use his popularity in a positive way. That combination of professionalism and likeability ensures that he remains a well-liked figure outside of cycling as well. From cycling to rally Since the end of his cycling career, Boonen has thrown himself fully into motorsport. What started as a passion quickly grew into a serious ambition within the rally world. With this new rally car, he seems to be taking another step forward. Less show, more efficiency — and above all: driving faster and more technically. Ambitions continue to grow The tests in Arendonk show that Boonen is far from done with competition. On the contrary, he continues to invest in equipment, training, and experience. Whether he will ever achieve the same status in the rally world as in cycling remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: his drive and passion are still just as strong.
